This guide is a personal view of pubs, mainly in South Gloucestershire, which have been used as dancing venues by Stroud Morris Dancers. Thanks to Mark for the idea! The pubs are rated according to quality of dance pitch, quality of beer and ambience on a scale 1 to 5 (1 = don't bother, 5 = tip top) and each entry includes a National Grid Reference and the 1:50,000 Ordnance Survey map on which it is located. When looking at my assessment of the dance pitch, remember that Stroud like dancing on solid surfaces: we find our style very hard work on grass. If you're planning a dance stop at a pub, don't forget to contact the landlord well beforehand to check that he has no objections!
