A friendly, somewhat hard-to-find pub reached at the end of a long, potholed track. Popular with students from the nearby agricultural college. Plenty of parking. Good value food. One of the sources of the Thames is nearby, and the Thames and Severn canal disappears into the Eastern portal of Sapperton tunnel just outside the car park. Sapperton Tunnel was at one time the longest canal tunnel in the UK, and is still the third longest. Boat trips into the tunnel are run on winter Sundays if there has been sufficient rain: see the Sapperton Tunnel Trip page
